Welcome to the wonderful world of Social Studies!!

 

 

 1st  Semester  ~ Civics

 ~  We will examine the ideas and documents upon which our government was founded.  We will learn about the various branches of government.  You will gain an understanding of the role of the government, and will demonstrate this through completing several role playng situations such as a mock trial, lobbying as an interest group, and creating a budget. 

We will study the political process.  How  elections work, how you become a candidate, and how can you make a difference.

We will study the rights, roles, duties, and responsibilities of being a citizen of the United States.

 

We will learn about the cultural, economic, and political systems of the people who live in the Eastern Hemisphere.  We will learn about the physical nature of the world, and about the people who live in it.  We will study the relationships between humans and their environments.
